In Byron's more recent abstract work, he has searched to inspire
the viewer to enter the painting and experience the richness of colour
and texture. This series of work has been seeded by concepts of spiritual
art, colour healing and colour therapy, whilst invoking a connection with
the soul.
The paint on these pieces is thickly applied oil paint, predominanty
using palette knives and brushes. It is very textured and multi-layered,
which creates a three dimensional effect on the canvas. Some of his
other work has been inspired by seascapes, the human body, and natural
colour combinations.
Painting abstract pieces allows Byron to explore his expressive freedom,
sometimes making dreamscapes, other times more explosive work. Many materials
are employed for some of these pieces, including kaolin, sawdust, chalk,
lean medium, liquin, oil, acrylics and even house paint. All abstract pieces
are original works and several are for sale.
